St. Therese of Lisieux, known for her “little way” to sanctity or “the way of holy childhood” confirms in her hope-filled message the most fundamental and hope-filled truth of the Gospel, namely that God is our Father and we are His children no matter what he may send our way. Edith Stein, a Jewish convert to Catholicism and Carmelite nun, placed her hope in the effective power of prayer when she was led to her martyrdom in Auschwitz on August 6, 1942.
