Jesus spent thirty wars with his mother and only three years in his public mission. From the time of finding Jesus in the Temple to the time of his public, eighteen years passed, the major pan of his earthly life, a time about which the Gospels say nothing, apart from Luke’s summary: He went down with them and came to Nazareth and lived under their authority Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature and in favour with Cod and with people (Lk 2.51-52). For Jesus this was the time for learning, for growing up, for developing his human potential to the full with the help of his Blessed Mother and foster father, Saint Joseph. The Second Vatican Council taught that Mary is the Mother, Teacher and Model of Christ’s Body, the Church (d. Lumen Gentium, 8). Following this and Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Exhortation, Catechesi Thadendae, we can reflect on Mary as Mother, Teacher and Model for Jesus himself.
This book aims to highlight the growth of Jesus with Mary’s help; to realise Mary’s role in the Mystery of Incarnation, and so to appreciate her pan in the mystery of our own redemption and In the life of the Church.
